US Air Force targets enemy space comms

The US Air Force is preparing to field by the end of the year 2004 the first weapon that will be capable of interfering with an opponent's space assets. The Counter Communications Systems (CCS) will allow a theatre commander to block the satellite communications of an adversary through radio-frequency interference. The terrestrial-based systems will temporarily disable an adversary's ability to use space links at critical moments to conduct command-and-acontrol activities and other missions like propaganda attacks and operating an integrated air defense. The system will create only non-lingering and reversible effects, as opposed to permanent damage.
