A new single-board computer, the Zendex ZX-186 is introduced, which offers the power of the 80186 but is fully compatible with Intel's iSBC-86/30. Compatibility is a major feature of the ZX-186. It allows existing 8086 designs to be upgraded without a major software investment, and allows new 80186-based designs to utilize existing 8086 software. Differences in chip design, memory factors, and input/output of the new computer are described.
