摘要
The propagation of optical radiation is considered in double-layer optical fibers consisting of a homogeneous circular cross section light-conducting core of low-absorption material, such as fused quartz or a multicomponent glass, surrounded by a loosely fitting sheath of a low refractive index material but having a high absorption in the optical band (100 dB/km and higher), such as polymers. The influence of the gap between core and sheath on the total losses in the lightguide is investigated.
