Study of the Equilibrium Pressure and Thermodynamic Properties of Sulfur in Rich Nickel-containing Copper Matte.

Experimental data are obtained concerning the variation of the equilibrium vapor pressures of sulfur over materials of the Fe-Cu-Ni-S system as a function of temperature and composition. The liquidus surface temperatures are determined as a function of composition. It is established that an increase in the nickel content in the sulfide with a constant Cu//2S:FeS ratio leads to a decrease in the equilibrium vapor pressures of sulfur. An increase in the Cu//2S:FeS ratio in the sulfide with a constant nickel content leads to an increase in the equilibrium vapor pressure of sulfur.
