An air-jet device for reducing soybean harvesting loss at the combine cutterbar was designed and tested. A 4. 6-m header equipped with a floating cutterbar and air jets was compared with a header equipped with a standard floating cutterbar only. At moisture contents below 13%, the air jets reduced header losses by 45% in 76-cm rows and by 67% in 20-cm rows.
