摘要
Molten salt baths are extremely effective for removing tough heat-scale formed on annealed or heat-treated wire. Molten salt baths have excellent wetting properties and this enhances their ability to penetrate minute crevices and openings in the scale and also react with all types of scale, combining high solvency and chemical reaction. The advantages of electrolytic cleaning, which combines the high chemical activity of molten salt and electrical energy; oxidation of molten conditioning baths, replenishment of salts and cleaning line operation are evaluated.
