摘要
The paper outlines the safety schemes and environmental protection measures proposed in the feasibility report for the Putki-Balihari coal project in the Jharia Coalfield of India. A glimpse of environmental problems is provided by citing environmental effects of miningm, air pollution, noise and vibration problems, vibration limits, and land degradation. The discussion then moves on to a scheme for safety and environmental protection for a large underground coal project in the Jharia Coalfield: surface and underground water; fire; pollution; safety, training, and planning; land reclamation; extraction by caving; dust suppression; township planning and tree plantation; and the control of sewage disposal and traffic.
