Results of low cycle fatigue tests of manganese-vanadium steel involving pulsating tension with the frequency of 1 Hz in the temperature range from plus 20 to minus 140C are presented. It is shown that, throughout the range, an increase in the cyclic strength of steel takes place. The capacity of the steel to resist deformation and failure due to low cycle loading increases at temperatures below minus 100 C. A sharp deterioration in the capacity of the steel to resist brittle fracture is noted in the same temperature range.
