General considerations related to history of development of instruments designed for color control on the paper machinery are followed by the description of the Hunter continuous color monitor which has been successfully used on several fine paper machines with closed loop control for color correction. Color disturbances can be corrected in five minutes; grade changes made in 10 minutes. Principle, design details, and operation procedure are presented in this report.
