A device and procedure for the volumetric determination of trapped gases in zinc die-castings in vacuum melting have been developed. The device is applicable for samples with gas contents between 0. 3 and more than 30 cm**3/100 g of metal. The procedure is based on measurements of the pressure exerted by the gases liberated from the samples in a calibrated volume. Relationships between porosity and gas content are established.
