An energetic interpretation of phase stability in the two-component system VP//M (M equals undetermined mole number) becomes possible when it is assumed that V contributes 1 to 0 electrons into the valence electron gas and P contributes 5 valence electrons (quasi Ekmanian electron count). Besides the correlations of the valence electrons and of the peripheral core electrons a correlation of the d electrons of V appears to exist, so that the bindings are here in fact composed of three correlations. A two-factorial isotypic binding is found in V//3P, V//2P, V//1//2P//7, V//4P//3, and the rule of increase of closeness of bindings with increasing valence electron concentration holds. The four phases belong to the site number ratio 8 and thus form a plateau of site number ratio versus mole fraction plot.
