A laboratory study of applicability of chemical flooding to a heavy crude oil reservoir is presented. The contact angle behavior of oil-water-calcite system was investigated to see the effectiveness of several chemicals added to the injection water. Displacement tests performed using two selected chemicals show an increase in recovery compared with plain waterflooding.
