A study is made of the propagation of electromagnetic waves in uniaxial conducting crystals placed in a magnetic field applied in an arbitrary direction with respect to the crystal axis. The polarization of waves traveling in the direction of the magnetic field is discussed and rotations of the polarization ellipse in magnetic fields are investigated. It is shown that the angle of rotation and the ellipticity can oscillate and under certain conditions, the characteristic oscillation length can be much shorter than the thickness of a sample. It is found that the frequencies of the standard cyclotron and plasma resonance are shifted, which leads to a new coupled cyclotron-plasma resonance. The reflection of waves is studied, the regions of transparency and a total reflection are investigated, and a formula is obtained for the reflection coefficient in the region of helicon propagation. 7 refs.
