From an analysis of literature data and experiments the effect of alloying elements on strength, ductility, hardenability, and cold resistance of quenched and tempered medium-alloy steels, the authors developed alloyed steels containing 2% Cr-38Kh2NM and 38Kh2NMF steel in forgings up to 500 mm in diameter. It has a combination of mechanical properties equal to that of steel 34KhN1M. Alloying with 0. 1% V increases strength without reducing ductility or fracture toughness.
