According to Italian company Olivotto SpA, the application of microelectronics and computer science to glass forming equipment can help to solve such problems as machine resolution and the need for skilled operators. It also assists with protection of the working environment. Equally importantly, however, such technology opens the way for automation in the glassworks, a goal which is still far from being practically achieved.
