摘要：
The ″quality index″ is most helpful in production tests and procurement specifications as a succinct element indicative of the strength and plasticity of the material. It has been shown in a previous article that the A. Portevin-type quality index for structural steels is more reliable than others. This article attempts to give a logic interpretation of the quality index selected on the basis of a specific statistic correlation. This permits one to determine indirectly the reduction of area of pure ferrite and pure pearlite.
