Utilization of the waste heat by the very old method of district heating which obtains heat by bleeding steam from thermal power stations is described. The available quantity of heat derived in this way counterbalances five to seven times the loss of electricity. In the second part a comparison shows the great energy disadvantages of the ″cold″ district heating systems. As roundabout way systems they are subjected to many energy losses. In comparison with other variants they show no economic advantage.
