In a previous paper by the author, the alpha - beta filter for automatic target tracking in radar applications was generalized so as to be applicable to the case of non-equidistant measurement. Its mathematical description was derived and its basic dynamic characteristics outlined. The dominant time constant of the filter was defined and its dependence on dynamic parameters alpha and beta investigated. In the present paper the noise ratio of the filter is defined, and a method for its calculation is described. This statistical analysis method is of general nature. Thus, it can be used even for investigating other discrete systems.
