Various aspects of the second-tier suppliers of the process industry are discussed. It is found that Foxboro/Invensys had announced A2 process control system which was originally developed by Eurotherm, a second tier company the Invensys acquired. It is observed that many of the second-tier suppliers offfers 'tools' that are based on ordinary, plain-Jain technology. The report generation and asset management package offered by Iconics are also elaborated.
