MACHINE CONTROLS UPDATE THE FOOT-PEDAL PUNCH PRESS.

An electromechanical system has been developdd for the actuation of a punch press using standard components readily available from distributor shelves. The interface from digital logic to mechanical control is through three Dormeyer 115-V AC solenoids, Model 2786-M-1, mounted side-by-side on a lever arm and fastened to the actuator rod originally connected to the foot pedal. A pair of remote touch switches is employed which do not require any pressure for actuation, just skin contact. They work through a dual in-line one-shot IC and a solid-state relay. The IC one-shot, a Texas Instrument SN74123N, filters the switch noise and turns on the solid-state relay for a predetermined period, simplifying the operator's task.
