KEYBOARD-INVOKED OPERATOR SELECTABLE DISPLAY OPTIONS ON AN INTERACTIVE CRT WORK STATION.

A select mode option for an interactive station is presented which allows the operator to alter or select display characteristics such as bar, blink or block-type cursor. In addition, the select mode option provides for invoking service procedures or display test patterns to enhance problem diagnosis and repair. The options are available when the work station is either 'on line' communicating with a host system or 'offline' when performing maintenance. Control of this mode is accomplished with a status switch, a programmable peripheral interface and a microprocessor, all within the CRT work station. The selectable options are performed by this work station microprocessor and are independent of host system support.
