摘要
The theory and research behind the thermal comfort of a human being is described in this article. The parameters influencing the thermal comfort of an individual are incorporated in the comfort equation introduced by Prof. P. O. Fanger. Practical use of this equation is illustrated through the use of examples. The PMV and PPD indices are described, which quantify the degree of discomfort when the optimal thermal environment cannot be achieved. For practical measurements a Thermal Comfort Meter has been developed on which some of the parameters are dialed in, while the instrument measures the remaining parameters and computes in usable form a quantitative measure of comfort.
