COMPUTERS IN CONTRACTING AND MANAGEMENT.

The Foster Wheeler Corporation studied the use of computers in equipment manufacturing companies. The principal recommendations of the report were as follows: install in-house computer equipment and eliminate bureau use; the formation of a Systems and Computer Applications Department (SYCAD) to centralize responsibility for computer systems; development effort by task forces of user department and SYCAD; introduction of new accounting procedures; the institution of rigorous audit trails on program changes; introduction of CAD (Computer Aided Design) Draughting; and accountability.
