Growth effects (rotation rate) on the characteristics of bismuth substituted lutetium iron garnets

The effect of substrate rotation rate on the characteristics of bismuth substituted lutetium iron garnets was described. It was observed that the rotation rate has a strong effect on the growth rate and the lattice mismatch for the particular melt system. It was found that the concentrations of the different ions in the film changed as the rotation rate increased. The results show that increase in the substrate rotation rate increased the growth rate by factor of 2, Faraday effect by upto 50%, and index of refraction by 1.6X10 -2.
