Control of a plane jet by fluidic wall pulsing

A wall pulsing control was applied on a plane turbulent jet with a short wide-angle diffuser attached to the jet exit. Wall pulsing increased the jet lateral expansion. Pulsing on both sides of the jet was also found to be the most efficient for lateral expansion. The inner structure of the jet was found to be strongly modified, with a shortening of the potential core and with the generation of highly periodic large-scale structures. The mechanism of the control was also determined.
