The tasks of binary control, analog control, monitoring, control and optimization of the process sequences in the iron and steel industry place ever increasing demands on the control systems used. The industrial control system Procontrol 1 has been specially designed for these tasks. The automation of a coking plant, electric steel plant and continuous casting plant are examples chosen to demonstrate its practical application.
