Selecting the right simulation tool for the job

During the past 10 to 15 years, process simulation has become increasingly important as a problem solving method in the pulp and paper industry. This paper examines practical aspects in the process of finding the right tool for the simulation task at hand. It reflects the experience of the authors in both the pulp and paper industry and consulting engineering fields. A poor selection of the simulation tool can result in delays, increased costs or even failures in the development of the simulation program.
