STRUCTURAL IDENTIFICATION OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS PROCESS BY SELF-ORGANIZATION METHODS.

One of the co-authors (M. D. Stetsenko) has developed a technique and the equipment needed for multichannel observation of photosynthesis, and carried out investigations on maize leaves. using the obtained experimental results, the other two co-authors (A. G. Ivakhnenko and B. K. Svetal'skiy) applied the cybernetic method of self-organization developed by them to the mathematical simulation of this process. Two mathematical models of photosynthesis were obtained (for two modes of supplying the plants with moisture). Both models were found to be nonlinear systems of combined open-loop/closed-loop control with delayed arguments, which is in good agreement with the physiological concepts of photosynthesis. The models can be used for prediction and optimal control of photosynthesis for the purpose of increasing yield.
