摘要
Moisture protection for masonry walls combines good design, proper material selection, and quality workmanship. The materials used in masonry construction are highly porous, and will absorb rainwater, melting snow, and other atmospheric moisture. Since the materials are known to absorb water, moisture flow must be controlled to prevent damage to the wall or to the building interiors. Some recommendations are given on designing for a humid climate, especially construction of cavity walls, flashing, materials selection, waterproofing and dampproofing, condensation and construction of vapor barriers, application of finishes, controlling moisture movement.
