Analysis of the stress-strain curves for metals in tension considering the influence of the loading rate and temperature

Analysis of influence of the loading temperature-rate conditions for specimens from aluminium, copper and high-strength steel shows that nonuniform stress-strain state occurring in the area of the specimen neck changes the initial strain rate and temperature at final stages of deformation prior to fracture. The use of the resistance characteristics under extensive plastic deformation and limiting plasticity determined by processing the results of such tests without appropriate correction, is not justified for engineering calculations.
