The Enterprise for Radio-Engineering, the Enterprise for the Plastics Industry and the Research Institute of the Plastic Industry have jointly developed a reversible current-limiting component. This element is produced from cross-linked polyethylene made conductive by an admixture of carbon black. The author discusses the principles of operation of the current-limiting element, as well as technological problems of its manufacture.
