Works carried out by Hydrex on an 80m long container ship to repair a large number of tears on her flat bottom are detailed. The damage resulting from grounding was severe with tears ranging from 1 to 7m in length. The work involved the welding of five different patches to the flat bottom, the biggest being 14.5 by 1.3m and weighing around 1,700kg. Underwater welders carried out two kilometres of weld seams in one of the biggest jobs of its kind ever carried out underwater.
