In the event that warmed water is discharged into the surf zone on a gently sloping coast facing the open sea, the results of field surveys show that the discharged warm water may be influenced by nearshore currents in and near the surf zone. Under the advective effect of the currents, complicated thermal diffusion ranges are often displayed. In this study, validity of the mathematical model is examined by comparing results with those of the hydraulic model test. The comparison is made for the velocity vector field and the diffusion range of discharged warm water.
