摘要
A series of variable temperature A.C. magnetization measurements have been completed from 4.2 K up to Tc in magnetic fields up to 10 T on bulk PbMo6S8 (PMS). The properties of hot isostatically pressed (HIP'ed) PMS fabricated at a pressure of 2 × 108 N.m-2 (2000 bar) are compared with those of PMS fabricated at ambient pressure. After HIP'ing the PMS, the critical current density increased by more than a factor of 20 and Tc increased by 0.5 K. Using Bean's critical state model, the magnetic measurements suggest that the HIP'ed sample has a critical current density of greater than 3 × 108 A.m-2 at 6 K. and 5 T.
