摘要
A large sample of Intra-LATA individual toll calls, wherein all callers and callees are identified by their SIC code, is used to create an intersectoral input-output table depicting the telecommunication flow interactions, measured in numbers of messages and conversation minutes, taking place among the various sectors of a regional economy. Major patterns and clusters of interactions are identified, and the extent of calling reciprocity is assessed. The intersectoral flows are then linked to regional sectoral employment data, and the resulting model is used to forecast regional telecommunication flows, based on employment forecasts. Areas for further research are outlined.
