摘要
An improved position-based dynamics method (PBD) was proposed to solve the problems of low efficiency and poor fidelity of flexible cable simulation in the development process of ship mooring operation simulation training system. Long range attachment constraint and pin constraint was put forward to simulate the bending and stretching effects of the cable based on distance constraint and bending constraint used in traditional PBD method. The long range attachment constraint could prevent overstretching of cable particles, and the pin constraint combined two particles into one particle for calculation to achieve the simulation effect of connection between the cable and the eye splice. Continuous collision detection constraint method considering friction and viscosity was used to realize the collision detection between cable and other objects in the simulation training system and the collision detection between cables themselves. The improved PBD method could enhance visual simulation effect of the cable. The rationality and efficiency of the improved PBD method were verified by comparing with Newton method. © 2019, Editorial Board of Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
