Hand shape segmentation was realized with the depth image information obtained by using a Kinect sensor. Based on the Hu-moment, the scale factor was removed using the moment ratio, so that the invariant moments contain more detailed gesture characteristics, having relationships with geometry, but not scaling. The target recognition result was converted into control commands for the somatosensory dress fitting system. Experimental results show that gesture recognition using the method has the advantage of invariance in image rotation, scaling and translation, with robustness to background interference.
