Research on validation method of raw material application to vehicle exhaust components

In view of vehicle running conditions, the method to validate raw material used in engine exhaust components by three levels of tests, raw material test, system test and vehicle test, was described. And the validation methods and flow chart for new raw material development were built up. Research results show that the crystal and condensate corrosions are main means and basic tests to validate the raw material corrosion resistance performance and its reasonable application. Deep stamping test is the critical test for the components with complex surface shape to validate the mould for the raw material. And vehicle accelerated corrosion test is not suitable for assessment of raw material condensate corrosion occurring inside the muffler.
