How to achieve your long-term career goals

The ability to set and achieve goals is essential to achieving a long and successful career as an electrical engineer. A lack of focus, foresight, and proper planning will almost always deter one's professional trajectory. Regardless, when considering the responsibilities of one's newly acquired job, it is important that one also has the foresight to consider everything else one needs to do in order to take one's career further. If one is currently employed and looking to grow one's career, one might want to consider taking classes or attending seminars in order to broaden one's abilities and deepen one's knowledge of a specialty. One can also volunteer to work on extra assignments outside one's expertise to help you better understand an area of engineering that one wants to eventually get involved in. Once one has the job and have established some stability in one's career, one can then begin to plan out some longer-term goals for oneself.
