U.S.D.A Forest Service is conducting tree thinnings which means cutting trees up to thirty inches in diameter. It is expected that taking down the smaller trees will remove intermediate fuel, fuel that enables fire to build to such an intensity and sustain itself for a time sufficient to ignite the truly big timber.
