A number of engineers, who have acquired significant business skills under the Sainsbury Management Fellows' Society's Sainsbury Management Fellowship (SMF) scheme, are making efforts to introduce changes in the manufacturing sector of the country. Lord Sainsbury founded the SMF scheme in 1987, to help leading engineering professionals in acquiring significant business knowledge and skills. The society sponsored these engineers, to study at leading business schools. Some of the engineers, who have acquired business skills under the SMF scheme, are planning to work jointly with business enterprises, academic professionals, institutions, and government agencies, to introduce certain initiatives in the manufacturing sector of the country. These professionals are planning to establish a Manufacturing Trust, to introduce their initiatives and fulfill their objectives.
