Chris Williams, network director at the UK Display & Lighting Knowledge Transfer Network (UKDL KTN), shares his views on the UK's government's initiative in harvesting photons from sunlight, storing them, and delivering them back when needed for illumination. The UK government is planning to develop systems for harvesting photons from sunlight and is funding several research and development work. The government has set up a new non-departmental public body, known as the Technology Strategy Board (TSB), that intends to control the content and delivery of the UK government's innovation strategy. It will also control all the aspects of the Technology Program, including the collaborative research and development competitions, the Knowledge Transfer Networks, and the Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
