AFA national report

Jennifer L. Sinsel, a fifth-grade from Wichita, Kansas, US, received the Christa McAuliffe Memorial Award as National Teacher of the Year at the Air Force Association's (AFA) Air & Space Conference and National Convention. Sinsel received the award for her work at Wichita Collegiate School, a private school with around 1,000 students ranging from preschool level to the 12th grade. She taught at the school from 1999 through discovery activities and hands-on projects, such as a simulated mission to Mars. AFA Chairman of the Board Robert E. Largent presented the award to Sinsel at the convention's opening day awards ceremony. The Christa McAuliffe award recognized a public, private, or parochial school teacher in grades K-12 who promoted aerospace technologies through innovative curriculum in the classroom.
