This numerical study aimed to assess the effect of the Circular Heave Plate (CHP) diameters and Skirt Plate (SP) on the heave response of a 3-straked Marine Circular Cylinder (MCC) with applicability to the different floating offshore platform under simultaneous conditions of regular waves and marine current. Different diameters of the CHP were chosen for installation at the keel of the 3-straked MCC. In this numerical simulation, the CHP diameters were varied from 1.2 to 1.6 times larger than the MCC's diameter, while other parameters, such as reduced velocity, Reynolds number, current velocity, Froude number, wave amplitude, and wavelength were kept constant. The findings demonstrated that increasing the diameter of the CHPs led to a noticeable reduction in the amplitude of the MCC's heave response. Also, it was found that the heave plate's diameter was approximately 30%-40% larger than the MCC's diameter, resulting in a smaller amplitude of the heave response in the 3-straked MCC under simultaneous conditions of regular waves and marine current. Moreover, the outcomes of the heave response of the 3-straked MCC + CHP + SP under simultaneous conditions of regular waves and marine current are presented and discussed.
