摘要
Companies in the UK are unable to take advantage of the government's tax credit scheme for research and development (R&D) projects. The tax credit scheme started operating in 2000 and can play a significant role in reducing a company's tax bill, or pay out cash sums. HM Revenue and Customs informs that most of of the manufacturing companies in the country have been unable to take advantage of the scheme, as 22,000 claims have been made between 2000-2006. It has been observed that most of the manufacturing companies are unaware about the advantages of the scheme, while some others worry that they will have to make significant efforts, to make such claims. The R&D tax program has two parts, with separate rules for SMEs and larger businesses.
