The role of partnerships to bring a change in the regulations or implement new programs in the national drinking water program are discussed. The USEPA provides many opportunities to provide information directly to its members and implementing the amendments to the Safe Drinking water Act (SDWA) produces many challenges. The primary driver for drinking water program are the 1996 amendments. The amendments had several significant themes obtaining sound data and science on which to base decision. Priority efforts are made on activities that support the national drinking water program and have done it as part of a larger community. To make drinking water safer; affordable and secure everywhere there are various ways of achieving this. By better characterizing health and security risks support innovative risk reduction and enhance understanding the nation's drinking water. With the help of strong state programs public water systems can be assured that they are sustainable and secured;
