This paper proposes a novel unbalance compensation control scheme based on feed-forward control to eliminate unbalance effects which adversely affect the operation of bearingless induction motors. First, the principle of rotor vibration caused by mass imbalance of bearingless induction motors is analyzed. And the dynamic model of the rotor is deduced, in which the PID control in the radial displacement loop can't cancel the effect of unbalance. Then, an unbalance compensation technique based on feed-forward control is presented to reduce the vibration of the suspended rotor caused by mass imbalance. Finally, the platform of a bearingless induction motor is established and the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed unbalance compensation control scheme based on feed-forward control. ©, 2014, Chinese Machine Press.
