Combined with the network management architecture defined by the ISO and the TMN, and the concepts of service-oriented network operation and maintenance management, this paper proposed a hierarchical model of network fault diagnosis. The model contains two modules which are in-layer fault diagnosis and between-layer fault diagnosis, in different layers it chose appropriate fault diagnosis methods accordingly, and the dependency graph method was used to execute the between-layer fault diagnosis. It proved that these two modules could cooperate and complement each other well, and improved the efficiency of network fault diagnosis. Besides, detail technology such as the refined codebook algorithm was expatiated. Finally, an example of videoconference was used to illustrate the model's application.
