Gas velocity distribution in cover of combined trapezoid spray tray

Gas velocity distribution is one of important parameters for testing whether or not the structure of Combined Trapezoid Spray Tray (CTST) is reasonable. The gas velocity distribution in the cover of CTST was measured in an experiment column with diameter of 600 mm by using hot-film anemometry. It shows that the process of gas flow in the cover can be divided into three parts; convolution, development and spraying. The flowing characteristics in every part are different. But the moving trend of velocity distribution is almost the same when gas velocity through plate holes changes. The comparison between velocity distribution and pressure distribution in the cover was made. The result well expressed the energy transition between kinetic energy and potential energy in the cover.
