Fuzzy adaptive control of light intensity in laser triangulation displacement measurement

In laser triangulation displacement measurement system, the light intensity of laser, the color and roughness of measured surface significantly affect on the measurement accuracy. A new method of fuzzy adaptive controller for light intensity was proposed in this paper, which adjusted the light intensity to the best light intensity through intelligent controlling of the laser power, integral time and CCD amplification gain. This controlling method can control the light intensity to adapt to the variety of measured surface and improve the measurement accuracy at the same time. And several kinds of different light intensity were adjusted to the setting value 3200 through the computer simulation, which proved the feasibility of control strategy. Then the experiments show that the signal strength that received by CCD can be adjusted to the expected range through controlling the above three factors and the measuring precision is increased by five percent when the small displacement is measured.
